The Social Services Office is available to anyone in the Readington Township community. Regular office hours are between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Emergency services are available at all times.

We provide a variety of services to residents including assessment, information about programs and referral to community resources, including Readington Starfish. In addition, we offer help with applying to programs such as PAAD, Lifeline, Home Energy Assistance, Senior Tax freeze and many more. For information call the Social Services Office.

  • The Food Pantry will provide emergency food packages to families in need. Donations are accepted all year long. Readington Area Starfish holds food distributions at Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter and the Fourth of July.
  • Readington Starfish assists Township residents with emergency needs. Call to discuss your situation in confidence.

Farmers’ Market Vouchers
July 1st – September 30, 2019

Hunterdon County residents, 60 years of age or older with low income, are invited to participate in the New Jersey Senior Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program sponsored by the NJ Department of Health and Senior Services.

Participants will receive five (5) checks valued at $5.00 each for a total of $25.00 to be redeemed at participating farm stands for fresh produce and herbs.

Farmers are not permitted to give change so each $5.00 check should be used in its entirety.

Checks can be obtained from one of the following locations:

• Division of Senior, Disabilities & Veteran Services
• North Hunterdon Senior Center
• Readington Township Municipal Office: Director of Social Services/Housing Coordinator

Income: Single: $1,872 (Gross) month
Couple: $2,538 (Gross) month

Most show proof of income: (Social Security award letter, Social Security 1099, 2018 tax return, SNAP or Medicaid Card.)

Note: Checks must be used by November 30, 2019
• Checks must be picked up in person and signed for.
• If a senior is housebound, arrangements can be made for his/her representative to pick up the checks.

2019 Starfish Happenings

Readington Area Starfish was started by a consortium of local churches and is a community-based volunteer organization that operates an emergency food pantry, assists local residents with emergency needs and provides holiday food to families in need. School Backpack Program – Donations Needed!!

The Backpack Program provides backpacks and new school supplies to children of local families who are struggling to make ends
meet and must make difficult financial decisions when meeting their family’s basic needs such as food, shelter, transportation,
clothing and health care.

We hope that our program helps students begin the 2019-2020 school year prepared and excited for learning! If you have questions you may contact Christine Dey at 908 534-0974.

Readington Starfish accepts food and monetary donations. Donations can be made through local churches, dropped off at the Municipal Building (Monday – Friday 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.) or mailed directly to Readington Area Starfish Treasurer, 42 School Rd., Whitehouse Station, NJ 08889.
