Office Closed Wednesdays & Fridays
In light of the COVID-19 threat, Professional Property Appraisers (PPA), the revaluation company hired by the Township, have decided to suspend interior inspections until the situation with this virus gets resolved. The inspectors will continue to complete exterior inspections and a new drop card just highlighting the change in policy due to the COVID-19 threat will be left at the residents door. In the near future either a second physical attempt will be completed when the situation dies down or a letter will be mailed requesting entry.
Please note that during office hours, the Assessor may be out of the office conducting field inspections, therefore, it is suggested that you contact the office to schedule an appointment or to confirm that the office will be open.
In compliance with state statutes, as well as procedures set forth by the County Board of Taxation, the Assessor values and assesses all real property in the Township for the purpose of equitable distribution of the real property tax requirements of the municipality, as well as the school system and county government.
Tax Deductions: The following programs are available for Senior Citizens, Disabled Persons and Veterans:
● Annual Property Tax Deduction for Senior Citizens, Disabled Persons: Annual deduction of $250 from property taxes for homeowners age 65 or older or disabled who meet certain income and residency requirements. ● Annual Deduction for Veterans: Annual deduction of up to $250 from taxes due on real or personal property of qualified war veterans and their unmarried surviving spouses/surviving civil union partners/surviving domestic partners. ● Property Tax Exemption for Disabled Veterans: Full exemption from property taxes on a principal residence for certain totally and permanently disabled war veterans and their unmarried surviving spouses/surviving civil union partners/surviving domestic partners. Unmarried surviving spouses/surviving civil union partners/surviving domestic partners of service persons who died on wartime active duty may also qualify. Farmland Assessment: The NJ Farmland Assessment Act of 1964 permits farmland and woodland actively devoted to an agricultural or horticultural use to be assessed at its productivity value. For more information and related forms please click on the links below:
