Township of Readington, New Jersey

Emerald Ash Borer: Report Tree Problems

Readington has been severely impacted by the destructive emerald ash borer (EAB), killing our ash tree population. If the trees have not been treated, the remaining will soon be dead. If a tree is already infested or in poor health, it is best to remove the tree as soon as practical, because ash trees quickly become brittle and prone to limb failure once the EAB attacks the tree. This can pose a hazard to structures, cars, and even people.

We kindly remind all residents that the maintenance and care of all trees located within the right-of-way, up to the edge of the road, lie with the respective property owners. If you believe an tree is growing too close to one of the power lines, JCP&L has an online form that can be completed where they assess the situation and determine if the tree needs attention before the next scheduled trimming.
